Access-

GB3VA is accessed only using a 1750hz tone. It does not use CTCSS. Users of GB3VA are requested to turn off their CTCSS when accessing the repeater. Having CTCSS turned on will cause your audio on the output of the repeater to distort. So to clarify, when accessing GB3VA turn off subaudible tones / CTCSS.

Normal/beacon/battery/mute modes -

Should the mains electricity to the repeater be interrupted for any reason the repeater will automatically change over to stand-by batteries, and the repeater will indicate this by superimposing a low level two-tone "police siren" sound on all transmissions. If you hear this please restrict the use of the repeater to essential traffic so as to conserve the batteries.

The repeater is occasionally put into beacon mode, ie callsign and locator in morse at 1750 Hz continuously, plus full talk-through, for test purposes. Use the repeater as normal when in this mode.

Very occasionally the repeater is put into non-talkthrough beacon mode (mute mode), ie. blank continuous carrier with callsign and locator in morse at 1750 Hz every 15 minutes. The repeater is not available for use in this mode.
